Siblings
Welcome to the new page for siblings!
If your brother or sister is suffering from an eating disorder, the information on this page has deen devised to help you to support them and understand what they are going through.
There are new developments on the horizon for siblings - perhaps most importantly the planned online Siblings' Chats. These will be hosted by Beat staff and Carers' Ambassadors who also have experience of supporting a brother or sister with an eating disorder. They'll be able to use their experiences to help you, in a supportive space where you can talk openly with others.
Below you can download Beat's range of leaflets for siblings, and read the story of a young girl whose sister is suffering from an eating disorder.
How we develop this section of the website is really up to you. Got an idea? Why not share it? E-mail Lawrence at Beat: l.brown@b-eat.co.uk.
Siblings' Leaflets
Here you can download our range of leaflets for siblings. These have been designed with brothers and sisters of different ages in mind: the first is for those under 8, to be read with an adult; the second for those aged 9-12; the third for teenagers; and finally, the forth one is for adults.

A Sibling's Story
Here a young girl whose sister is battling an eating disorder talks of her experiences: of the importance of parents ensuring understanding – and of siblings not being kept in the dark; of opening up to others; and most of all, facing up to the realities of an eating disorder while remembering that things can get better - but recovery from an eating disorder will take time.
