Get Involved with Beat

There are numerous opportunities for carers to get involved with Beat.

Carers' Ambassadors

Why not join our new Carers’ Ambassadors scheme (see the link to the left for more information) and raise awareness of the issues and difficulties faced by those supporting someone with an eating disorder, challenge myths and stigma and inspire hope for other carers: that eating disorders will be beaten?

The Beat Network: Self Help & Support Group Facilitators

Work is underway to establish a UK-wide network of Beat Self Help & Support Groups.

Carers repeatedly comment on the tremendous benefits of these groups – frequently telling Beat that there is no substitute for the opportunity to share experiences with others who really understand.

See the link to the left of this page for more information about the Beat Network and how you can get involved.

Beat Assured: Auditing Eating Disorders Services across the UK

The Beat Assured Quality Mark recognises good practice in services providing treatment for eating disorders.

This is an opportunity to for you to use your knowledge and experience, auditing services with reference to the beat assured standards – a robust framework covering the entire treatment experience – and through discussion with service users and staff.

Contact Lawrence Brown, Engagement Officer, for more details: l.brown@b-eat.co.uk or 01503 753334.

Fundraising

Another great way to support Beat is by fundraising - either taking part in an organised event, such as cycling or running a marathon, or organising your own event, perhaps at work or in your local community.
