Beat Helpline

Beat operates a Helpline service and Youthline service, for callers aged over 18 and under 25 respectively.

The helplines are for both sufferers and carers; it may surprise you to hear that almost half of calls received are from carers.

The purpose of the helpline is to provide a confidential service including:

  • A listening ear
  • A non-judgemental response
  • Information about eating disorders
  • Information about help available
  • Information about Beat

The helpline does not:

  • Make medical diagnoses
  • Offer counselling
  • Make referrals
  • Tell people what to do
  • Encourage emotional dependence on the line
