Beat Helpline
Beat operates a Helpline service and Youthline service, for callers aged over 18 and under 25 respectively.
The helplines are for both sufferers and carers; it may surprise you to hear that almost half of calls received are from carers.
The purpose of the helpline is to provide a confidential service including:
- A listening ear
- A non-judgemental response
- Information about eating disorders
- Information about help available
- Information about Beat
The helpline does not:
- Make medical diagnoses
- Offer counselling
- Make referrals
- Tell people what to do
- Encourage emotional dependence on the line
